Check NASDAQ Stock Quotes directly from Google Talk
How cool is that? Checking the market price of stocks can be pain until your are logged into your trading/demat account interface. The financial websites are cluttered with so many ads that it becomes a real pain to keep track of the moving stock qoutes.
What if we could just enter the official stock short code or the standard ticker in GTALK window and get the latest trading price. It sure is cool, given that you don’t even have to open any website and then wait for it to load.
How? Thanks to a kick ass Google Bot developed by @chinmay_raval_which uses the Google Finance API to fetch the NASDAQ data and serves you the market price of the stock.
Announcing , nasdaq-talk@appsot.com
It is just like any other handle that you can add to your Google Talk chat list and it starts working.
I gave it a spin and it works amazing. The best part about the bot is that it follows KISS(Keep it Simple and Stupid) . The bot is very minimalistic and simple in its approach.
For eg: If you want to see the market price of Amazon as per the Google Finance API, you only have to key in the stock code for Amazon (AMZN)
It is this simple!! It tells you the current value, change and the exact time of the current market value.Still not convinced, let’s do a stock search for the oh-so-great Google (GOOG)
Amazing, isn’t it!! Now get the power of NASDAQ in your Google Talk.
Do share this nifty little bot with others because sharing is caring :-)
Note: For Indian Stock Market enthusiasts, Chinmay has promised to make a BSE Sensex bot like this if people would be willing to use it.In fact , he is already working on it.
So, do share your thoughts via comments if you would like having a BSE/NSE stock price bot.The comments might get him to complete it fast.
Don’t forget to subscribe to the blog if you want to know when the BSE/NSE bot is out.Just put your e-mail in the “Subscribe via e-mail” and i promise you will be the first to know.
